V-Rooms Virtual Data Rooms Certified SSAE16 Type II

June 26, 2012

V-Rooms announced today that its virtual data room is now certified SSAE16 type II.

“There are several standards for measuring the security protocols used by different virtual data rooms.” Said Dan Bradbary, CEO of V-Rooms.com “We certainly are proud to have achieved the most robust certification.”

SSAE 16 (Statements on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16) is a more robust standard than SAS 70. Both SAS 70 and SSAE16 verify the security controls and processes are being followed, but SSAE16 also requiring a written assertion regarding the design and operating effectiveness of those controls. SSAE16 Type II is a further demarcation, measuring whether those security controls are actively being used in the operation environment over a six month period and not just while the tests are being competed.

“We are happy to be certified as SSAE16 Type II,” said Karen Perkins, President of V-Rooms. “This increases our security measures even more and provides our clients with the most secure data room possible.”

SSAE16 was created by the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in 2010. Its purpose was to replace an aging SAS 70 standard.
